This hands-on workshop will guide you through using California’s Summer @ Your Library Quality Principles and Indicators to improve your summer programs. The workshop is free and attendee travel reimbursement, to and from all regions, is available (within LSTA guidelines). Dr. Virginia Walter will facilitate.

Ready to roll up your sleeves and take a deep dive into implementing and strengthening one Quality Principle in particular?
Sign up for one (or more!) of our regional workshops, which will include a series of group work exercises, focused around a case study, to help you develop a strategy for implementing the featured Quality Principle.
At all regional workshops, participants will:
- Discuss why the Summer @ Your Library quality principles are of value
- Hear from a library that is using the principles and indicators to plan, assess and improve their program
- Strategize on ways to gather information and solicit input from the community
- Strategize on creating community partnerships
- Create an evaluation strategy
- Plan for presenting the Quality Principles to colleagues
- Develop an action plan for implementing the Quality Principle at their library

Summer @ Your Library in California is a time of celebration, community-building, playing, learning, and reading. The Summer @ Your Library quality principles and indicators have been developed to showcase summer programs in California libraries and to help library staff demonstrate and maintain the value and impact of their programs.
A working group of California librarians partnered with the California Library Association and its Summer @ Your Library project to develop the quality principles and indicators. Working group members and CLA and California State Library staff gathered feedback from colleagues throughout the state to develop a set of principles and indicators that reflect and represent Summer @ Your Library across the state.
