Back by popular demand, registration is now open for California Library Association’s Summer @ Your Library Outreach and Community Building training workshop. If you missed attending this workshop held last spring in Encinitas, San Francisco, and Bakersfield, please consider registering.
Workshop Description:
This hands-on working session will provide participants with a framework and techniques for reaching out and engaging underserved community members with your summer programming; and using outcomes to evaluate the impact of your outreach. Participants will learn how to:
- conduct a community needs assessment;
- develop strategies for reaching out to the community and creating relationships with underserved groups;
- design summer programs that engage underserved groups;
- design outcomes that will help evaluate the impact of your outreach; and
- use your results to improve library service and promote the library.
The workshop will be presented by Drs. Virginia Walter and Cindy Mediavilla.
If you already attended CLA’s 2017 Outreach workshops in Encinitas, San Francisco or Bakersfield, this workshop content will be duplication. While the workshop will focus on summer programming, the skills acquired by participants will be transferable to other areas of library service.
