iREAD Resource Guides for California Libraries

The iREAD Resource Guide and artwork are provided free of charge to California public libraries with the support of an LSTA grant from the California State Library. There are no costs associated with ordering guides for public libraries in California. For information on the resource guide, please visit the iREAD Resource Guide Information page.

You can also view the recent iREAD State Partners Webinar Recording and Presentation Slides to learn more about the 2022 program.

You can visit the iREAD website and store at any time and browse through content and available items. However, we recommend you wait to hear from us early October 2021 on details of when and how you will be receiving your 2022 iREAD Resource Guide.

The Re(a)d Zone

The California Library Association and its California Summer Reading Challenge program are delighted to partner with the 50 Fund, the legacy fund of the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee, on a signature initiative called The Re(a)d Zone that will reach more than 50,000 low-income Bay Area children.

A 14-month early literacy initiative, The Re(a)d Zone will invest in, strengthen, and build the capacity of high-quality, literacy-enhancing programs that increase third grade reading proficiency throughout the greater Bay Area including Monterey, Sacramento, and Santa Cruz counties.

Starting in summer 2015, 50 Fund will provide financial support to summer literacy programs, libraries, and community initiatives to enhance and expand existing reading programs that help struggling readers to catch up and marginally proficient readers to avoid the “summer slide,” and that provide low-income children across the region — prioritizing children in public housing — with access to books, reading programs, and early literacy support.
